Head Chef
Job Summary
The Head Chef is responsible for the efficient and smooth operation of food production within the designated kitchen. This role involves controlling, supervising, and actively participating in kitchen operations to ensure consistent high-quality output in line with hotel, brand, and municipality standards. The Head Chef will oversee staff training, maintain strict hygiene and safety compliance, and work to enhance guest and employee satisfaction while optimizing financial performance. Additionally, the role includes menu development, cost control, and coordination across all kitchen areas to deliver exceptional culinary experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of food production, ensuring attractive presentation, excellent taste, proper texture, and adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain responsibility for quality, freshness, and consistency of dishes within the assigned area of expertise.
- Coordinate effectively with outlet chefs and other departments to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Supervise daily kitchen activities, ensuring compliance with hygiene, safety, and organizational standards.
- Develop and implement menus in coordination with senior kitchen management, ensuring cost control and proper yield of ingredients.
- Monitor and maintain food cost, labor cost, purchasing, and inventory within budgeted targets.
- Prepare kitchen duty rosters and manage departmental schedules for efficient workflow.
- Lead training, coaching, and development of junior chefs and team members.
- Conduct timely performance appraisals and maintain high team morale.
- Ensure guest satisfaction through consistent quality, innovative menu offerings, and prompt service.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Culinary School Degree with a minimum of 3 years certification; Certificate in Food Production or Culinary Diploma.
- Certifications: Advanced Food Hygiene; Advanced HACCP Certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ professional culinary experience, including at least 4 years in a 5-star hotel and a minimum of 2 years in a similar leadership role.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Language Skills: Advanced English communication skills, both written and verbal.
